ABOUT THE EVENT
Child Abuse and Violence
An Interdisciplinary Approach to Detection, Intervention, Prevention and Protection
Dear Colleagues,
It is my pleasure to invite you on behalf of the 'Project BROKEN2018' Initiative, the Aruba Ministry of Education, Science & Sustainable Development, NASKHO, and Neuropsychological Ambulatory Aruba, to this unique Seminar and Workshops: ‘Child Abuse and Violence’: an Interdisciplinary Approach to Detection, Intervention, Prevention & Protection. One of the goals of ‘Project Broken2018’ is among others to bringing together top-notch Awards Winning International as well as Gifted Speakers from the region to share knowledge, and to contribute to the urgent goal to connect decision-makers and relevant actors with approaches to address Abuse and Violence against Children in our communities. Our understanding of Abuse and Violence is in line with UNICEF’s understanding of violence which derives from Article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which defines the scope as “all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse, while in the care of parent(s), legal guardian(s) or any other person who has the care of the child.”
Objectives: In this program, participants will explore both Opportunities and Challenges in Preventing Child Abuse and Violence. Different approaches will be discussed which are important for a holistic and inter-disciplinary approach to detection, intervention, and protection of the Child from harm by others as well to discuss strategies for those with the power to act in our communities.
Our aim, therefore, is for each participant (also after this seminar) to continue expanding his/her knowledge, and further developing new strategies for recognition and timely intervention. This will certainly benefit interagency-cooperation-approaches and advocacy in the lead onto prevention and protection of the Child.
This Seminar, Workshops, and Panel are also sustained by the Aruba Ministry of Education, Science, and Sustainable Development.
To the many Participants traveling to Aruba, we wish you all a pleasant flight and a warm “Bon Bini to Dushi Aruba”.
